What will I learn on this course?

During this beginners course learners will use Photoshop software, gaining an understanding of: the Photoshop desktop, using rules and ruler guides, layers, the Photoshop toolbox and RGB colour coding. Canvases, shapes, layers, text and text styles will be created. The use of colours and colour changing techniques will be investigated, as well as cropping, resizing and changing the orientation of images. You will Improve the quality of a photograph and also be able to repair a damaged photograph (take a ripped photograph and put it back together so that the joins do not show). Create a panoramic picture, make a passport photo, create a vignette and make a 12 page calendar. You will be able to change the colours within an image, extract parts of a photograph/image and place them in another photograph/image, use the liquefy filter and morphing, prepare photos for printing and make cards – greetings, business etc. Although there are no formal entry requirements, you will need a good standard of English to be able to understand and follow written and verbal instructions. (Equivalent to Entry Level 3 English).

What teaching/learning methods will be used?

Demonstration, small group work, group discussions and one to one support from your tutor.

What examination/accreditation is available?

There is no formal qualification.

Will I need special equipment/materials/clothing/books?

It is not a requirement that Adobe Photoshop is available for use at home. A folder will be useful for you to keep your artwork in and a notepad to take notes.
